Can you Vapour blast a complete engine?
We are regularly asked this question. At the end of the day, you are the customer, and if you are willing to take the risk of contamination, then we will work with you to achieve the best result.
You will save money and time - but ..
Things to take into account in your decision making;
-
The media is glass beads, which is harder than metal bearings.
-
Whole engines are blasted at the lowest possible working pressure - usually about 2 bar (29 PSI).
-
Only the outside surfaces will be Vapour blasted.
-
Modern engines are better sealed than older engines. Off road and open bike and car engines are designed to be weather tight at road speeds.
-
Every possible ingress point for media - all ports, breathers, plugs and seals will need to be double sealed.
If you choose to go this way, study the photos and talk with us about the ways in which you can properly seal your motor. We can help with advice about sealing materials, making brackets for rubber stoppers, using cloth barriers, double bagging and so on.
